Compact Grapefruit Tree with Zesty, Red Fruits

The CELGEN Star Ruby Grapefruit Tree is perfect for grapefruit lovers who prefer a tangier citrus experience. Its large fruits feature deep yellow skin and richly coral-red flesh, delivering a flavor that is tart yet sweet enough to enjoy fresh off the tree.

Superior Growth with CELGEN Rootstock

Each Star Ruby Grapefruit Tree is grafted on our tissue culture–developed rootstock, grown in the CELGEN laboratory. This ensures:

  • Vigorous, uniform growth

  • Resistance to soil-borne diseases and nematodes

  • Long-term productivity and consistent fruit quality

Beauty Meets Productivity

Even before fruiting, Star Ruby is an attractive addition to any garden or patio. With dense, vibrant green foliage and fragrant white blossoms, it doubles as an ornamental plant and a functional privacy screen. Its compact size makes it easy to grow in smaller spaces or containers that can be brought indoors during cooler months.

Harvest Season

Enjoy fresh, tangy-sweet grapefruits from November through May, making it one of the longest fruiting citrus varieties available.

Care Guide

1. Planting – Choose a sunny spot with acidic, well-draining soil. For pots, use a container with good drainage. Protect from extreme temperature changes to avoid leaf drop.

2. Watering – Water once or twice a week for young trees. Avoid overwatering and never let roots sit in standing water to prevent root rot.

3. Fertilizing – Apply an acidic citrus fertilizer 3–4 times per year, from February to September.

4. Pruning – Remove any suckers and prune damaged or dead branches in early spring. Maintain compact size for easier harvesting.

5. Pollination – Self-pollinating, but a second tree increases yields. Indoor trees can be hand-pollinated with a fine paintbrush.
